    DndspeakBy DndspeakApril 3, 2023No Comments1 Min Read

One hundred items and treasures you would find in a Yuan-Ti’s lair.

    d100Entry
A collection of sandstone tablets filled with strange symbols. If translated, the tablets discuss the coming of a great serpent god. A thousand and one souls must be sacrificed in the name of the great serpent in order for it to manifest in the material plane.
A bundle of vials that contain the venom extracted from fallen yuan-ti warriors, meant to 'preserve their presence' in a sense. They are each labeled with their names and the titles they earned in their lives.
Several piles of semi-mutated humanoid bodies, all with various deformities revolving around snake scales or appendages. It would seem as if this is where the 'failed creations' go for the transformation rituals of the yuan-ti.
An olive green bead necklace that reaches down to the average human's midsection when worn. Upon inspection, the stones are - fittingly - made from serpentine. Each bead has a single rune engraved into it, leading to the idea that this could be used in prayer.
Manicure set designed for scale care with 2d4 precious gems shaped as replacement scales.
A small chest lined with soft fabric containing small eggs from various songbirds, a delicacy.
A large glass tank (with airholes) containing wood shavings and lots of live mice. A small net with a long handle sits nearby.
A thoroughly defeated Bullywug chained up in a watery pit. To avoid further torture, will upon command summon frogs and toads for the Yuan-Ti to feast on.
A giant stone snake's head with an open maw looking skyward positioned to make it look like it swallows the sun everytime it sets.
Bamboo poles arranged to be climbed up and around using the advantage of a snake's coiling ability.
A large wall mural of yuan-ti performing ritual sacrifices and conquering their neighboring cities set against a blood red sky. The paint is chipping in various places and if you scrape some of it off you find that it was painted over a mural of humans peacefully farming and trading with their neighbors set against a blue sky.
The preserved skin(s) of ancient Yuan-Ti masters used for rituals, perhaps magical.
A large ornate map, showing the locations of Yuan-Ti strongholds and storage sites. A clever adventurer could make some coin from this, one way or another.
A portal taking you to a pocket dimention full of serpents. The Yuan-Ti say they use it to keep certain "holy" serpents safe from harm, but you're pretty sure only the Yuan-Ti would do something silly like put snakes on a plane (of their own).
A strange basalt staff, shaped like a snake (of course). When anointed with the blood of an enemy ( of the user), the staff turns into a real snake, teleports to the targets location, and attempts to kill them via venomous snakebite.
A swath of shed snake skin. From the Yuan-ti, or from a less-humanoid pet.
A jar of thick oil, such as cocoa butter or cocunut oil. Used like makeup on scales to make them lustrous and vibrant. May also be useful for creating torches, greasing surfaces, or cooking.
A sun room. The air is heavy with dust that contrasts with beams of sunlight shining through from the ceiling onto stone lounges in the room. Reptilian occupants bask in the warmth and glow of the sun, none seem to notice you.
The tail-bones of several snake skeletons, fashioned into some sort of instrument.
A baby rattle, shaped like a snake's rattle. Has venomous slobber on it's surface.
A golden staff with the head of a cobra on top. It's eyes are solid rubies.
A human heart in a jar. Nothing else special, really. Just a heart in a jar.
A glass case full of dead spiders.
A room full of shelves upon shelves of various concoctions - poisons, potions, the occasional antidote, explosives, acids, alkali, and strange smelly alchemical ingredients, all in neatly arranged bottles of tough and heavy glass (very difficult to break accidentally) with heavy silver bottle caps and sealed with some sort of wax.
A passageway of thin tunnels and passageways, clearly meant for something medium-sized to slither through them. It's no use to try and walk. You'll have to crawl.
A ritual scroll for summoning a snake familiar.
Ornate stalk for egg eating.
Dead humanoid creatures hung upside down by their feet with snake bites all over them.
A series of magical gemstones, embedded into a large stone tablet that gives off a soothing warmth for any cold-blooded serpent to rest on.
Elaborate carved stone statues of snakes wound on a staff with ruby inset eyes. The staff is standing up straight perched upon a small hole in the ground. Surrounding it at its base are the bones and fur of rats, mice, and frogs. As well as insect shells and legs.
A set of ceremonial robes with hoods that resemble the spread frill of a cobra. The ornamentation of this hood varies between robes but may relate to the status of the owner.
A pile of Yuanti skin sheddings covered in fragrant ceremonial oils and fine ash from firepit.
A dull ceremonial scimitar with two holes in it so it can be held in the mouth by Yaun-ti during ceremonial Snake Belly dancing. a thin piece of cloth hangs from the hilt with a ball of colorful yarn at the end of it, during the dance they keep the ball constantly in motion. They let the ball hang straight down by gravity as they conclude their dance
A leaflet titled, "General Orders for Temple Guards": A short leaflet with hand drawn pictures that describes the duties and expectations of Temple Guards. It describes things such as proper watch turnover, even provides tips and tricks for making rounds efficiently.
Wicker baskets filled with a dozen different species of snakes. A lit firepit in the corner is surrounded by bedding with snake eggs in a variety of shapes and colors nestled in all the crevices.
There is a firepit in the middle of the room with a dome of red glass above it, depictions of snakes and yuan-ti are projected onto the walls of the room. As the fire naturally flickers the projected images of snakes and yuan-ti appear to move in a mildly realistic way.
A karesansui: a 'Japanese' style raked gravel garden which is in fact a nursery. Snake eggs are buried just beneath the surface. A swarm of baby snakes may erupt if the gravel is disturbed.
Brass-and-marble versions of several popular game sets, seemingly very expensive.
Whips, razor strops, and other cruel implements made from snakeskin and what may be human leather.
A stack of corpses all impaled on a great iron spike. Strange noises come from the pile, and if inspected closely, they will reveal themselves as (incapicated) zombies, only able to attack if adventurers draw very near.
A library full of human books, missives, newspapers, religious texts, poems, shopping lists, and any document that the Yuan-Ti could find. Shackled and scarred slaves give grammar, diction, and history lessons to Yuan-Ti purebloods to help them infiltrate nearby settlements.
An ornate censer or thurible, with a bittersweet incense unpleasant to humanoid nostrils, but very captivating the Yuan-Ti. The Yuan-Ti will fight with extra vigor to reclaim it.
A large, two-handed machete or Daidao, on a pedestal in a room with a bloody altarpiece or headsman's block, larger than one for killing just humans would be.
A small ornate chest that contains a golden flute that's shaped like a snake. Inside the flute is a hidden rolled up piece of parchment that contains the notes to a melody, when played correctly it has a chance to charm yuan-ti / snakes.
A skull-shaped bottle made from a foggy green crystal. Inside of it is a transparent red poison. The crystal bottle itself is worth 250gp, and the type of poison is unidentifiable.
An ornate scimitar. The hilt is a snake's mouth, with the blade coming out of it. Its scabbard is designed to look like a snake, and when the blade is in it, a normally gray rune on the scabbard turns blue.
A pouch with 3d4 bronze coins, each with a snake on the heads side, and with a scimitar and skull on the tails side. When one is thrown, flipped, or placed on a flat surface, it turns into a venomous snake.
A delicious smelling egg drop-esque soup simmering in a small crock, dried herbs and spices decorate the hearth. Fresh chopped veggies, and half of a very spicy newt lay on a cutting board.
A book written in Yuan-Ti that has several pictures of different birds in it. If you cannot read Yuan-Ti It appears the book is about hunting, or perhaps which birds have the best eggs for eating. In actuality it tells of secret doors that only open when you replicate the birds call at certain places in the Lair.
A room with a wide bronze basin with divots around the edge and grooves leading from the divots to a hole in the center. The grooves are carved in archaic arcane symbols that channel the life essence in blood to lure spirits into a spirit well beneath the chamber.
Sacrifices are laid with their heads over the divots, and their throats are slit in various rituals.
A brood chamber containing several unhatched yuan-ti eggs.

A beautiful crystal carafe filled with a sluggish emerald oil. When applied to a wounded creature, that creature believes the wound has been miraculously healed. This has no effect on creatures that can see through illusions.
